Welcome to Mrs. Kiritz’s 6th  grade math class!

“Without mathematics, there's nothing you can do. Everything around you is mathematics. Everything around you is numbers.”

Greeting Families,

I am delighted to have your students in my class this year and can’t wait to get started. I believe there is a need for a strong collaboration between students, teachers, and families. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns at any point during the year. Please know, also, that families are always welcome in my class.

I believe that every one of my students can be successful in math. In order to achieve this success, students will need to work hard. My goal is that as they work, they will gain the necessary critical thinking skills to become better problem solvers. For any students who need additional help, I am available between 2:30 and 3:30 most Mondays and Tuesdays after school and by appointment. Students can use that time for one-on-one or small-group tutoring or to retake tests, if necessary. Though I have very high academic standards, I am willing to match my students' efforts in order to help them succeed.

I am looking forward to getting to know each of them - their likes and dislikes, their strengths and their areas for improvement - and exploring the exciting world of mathematics together with them. Again, please feel free to contact me any time you have any questions or concerns, or if there is anything you think I should know about your student that will help me to support him/her. The best way to reach me is via e-mail at kkiritz@Tacoma.K12.Wa.US, but you can also call the school office at 253-571-7500 and leave a message and I will return your call as soon as possible.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Kiritz
