Homework for Nov. 25th – Dec. 5th
We are reading the text, Citybook, in our reading anthology. As part of our unit of study on cities, we will be building a city in our classroom using recyclable materials. For our homework over the next week, please help your child create a building for our city. The buildings can be made out of boxes, cartons, cans, wood, etc. . . It’s time to get creative!!! Please label the building (Bank; Post Office; store; etc.). Your child may want to name the store after himself/herself (example: Tom’s Grocery), or actually build a replica of a building in our city (example: Starbucks; Target; etc.). Your child needs to bring the completed building to school by Thursday, December 5th. We will work as a group to design our city in class on Friday.
Please note: *Because students ride the bus this year, I coordinated this project with our week of conferences thinking that, perhaps, you could transport your child’s building to school when you come for your conference (and leave it for our Friday culminating activity). This would alleviate having to transport the project on the bus. You may, also, drop it off before school and leave the project on a table in “The Commons” area. Please leave me a message (571-5744) if you choose this option, and I will pick it up and take it down to our classroom.
Thank you for your help. Happy building!
