Welcome!

Introduction:  You've reached the Swift website of Ms. Freberg at Truman Middle School.  Information at this site will be about seventh grade math.

Contact information for parents and/or guardians:  You may reach me at 571-5641.  During class time, the phone is set on messaging, so please leave your name, number, and a brief message and I will get back to you as soon as possible.  Our seventh grade team leaders are Mrs. Cornell at 571-5644, and  Ms. Christi Coen
at 571-5650.   The e-mail address is:  DFreber@tacoma.k12.wa.us

Schedule:   My math 7 sections are scheduled for periods 2,4, and 6. First and third period are  Pre-Algebra 7.  Seventh grade has third lunch from 12:16-12:46 p.m..  The first bell rings for students at 8:06 a.m.and the student day begins at 8:15 a.m. It ends at 2:45 p.m.  We meet in room 2701.

Office Hours:  My planning period is fifth period which begins at 12:50 p.m. and ends at 1:45 p.m. on the regular bell schedule.  We have scheduled meetings several mornings per month, but, in general, I/we can usually be reached by phone at the end of the day, during planning. or mornings when there is no
meeting scheduled.

General Expectations:  The student handbook sets forth the general expectations for the school.  We are also organized by grade level teams and classrooms.
We will be communicating more information throughout the year via Open House, the Truman newsletter, conferences, and grades online . This year we are introducing a system called "CHAMPS" in classrooms:  C-conversation, H-help procedures, A-activity type, M-movement about the room, P-procedures with a
recurrent theme of student self-management, all while creating a culture of learning and a safe and positive climate for all.

Extra Help for Students:
Individual students may come in any night after school  from about 2:45 until 3:00 p.m.  They need to make sure their family knows they are staying, they have transportation worked out, and the teacher expects them, because we also have conferences and meetings staff sometimes need to attend. Additional time may be reserved as needed by contacting the classroom teacher.
This year I am going to establish WEDNESDAY as the day for extended tutoring after school from
3:00 p.m. until about 4:20 p.m. so students can catch the activity bus home as needed provided the student has notified the teacher in advance, the teacher is available that day, parents are informed and have given their permission for the student to stay, and the student has transportation worked out in advance.
If a student can't stay after, occasionally arrangements can be made for a morning math help session, but the student will need to get a hall pass from the teacher the day before to be able to walk through the halls to the room. Morning times for those who make these arrangements with their family and teacher will be
7:45 a.m. until 8:06 a.m.
