# 10/23/17 - 10/26/17

Monday, 10/23:

Today was the last day students had in class to complete lessons 2.1 and 2.2 and their RSGs. If you were done there was an extra credit optional assignment.

Tuesday, 10/24:

Today we reviewed what we had done while Mrs. Roscoe was out- and filled in the most important gaps as needed. The most important task was the lesson investigation of 2.1, where you made graphs of functions using calculators or desmos and then used them to understand what the parts of the equation do to the graph. Be sure to prioritize completing this if you haven't. After today you should be able to complete anything you skipped, so do that tonight! Remember, on 2.1 lesson questions, first make a different representation, then make the equation. You may find it your notes allow you to make a vertex form equation from the graph, which you can then check on the t-table! A copy of the vertex form notes are on the handouts page. **HW: finish 2.1 and 2.2 ALL**

Wednesday, 10/25:

Today we started with some time to review and discuss lesson 2.2. Then we started lesson 2.3. We completed at least the first 5 questions, and some students got further. It's important to use the area diagrams, building little algebra tile pictures of the quilts as you complete the tasks and questions. When looking for patterns notice how each of the 3 terms of the final area can be connected to the square length versions of the equations (ex: (x + 3)^{2} becomes x^{2} + 6x + 9). We will finish the lesson tomorrow. **HW: 2.3 Ready (and tonight is the last chance to finish 2.1 and 2.2 on time)**

Thursday, 10/26:

Today we opened class with the vertex form check point (unless you did it already). Then we used the rest of the period to finish lesson 2.3. By using algebra tiles and pictures we were able to easily complete each task and find the rule. We have know started to learn how to complete the square! Some students also finished the Set in class, if not, it is homework. **HW: 2.3 Set**
