SOTA Family Newsletter

October 17, 2017

Dear SOTA Families,

Thank you for participating in student conferences last week. We appreciate the partnership with families and know that it helps us all to support your student’s success.  It’s hard to believe that we are almost at mid-terms for this first semester.  Please encourage your student to check their grades on HAC often.

This newsletter includes upcoming dates specific to JUNIORS & SENIORS, but opportunities open to freshman and sophomores as well. Please check-in with your student about taking advantage of the opportunities and resources provided at SOTA.

Please join us this Thursday October 19th for a College Workshop Night, from 6-8 pm in the new Environmental Learning Center next to the zoo at Point Defiance Park. This is your opportunity to learn about the college admissions process, how to file for financial aid (FAFSA), and to hear from college admissions representatives.

This Friday, October 20th is the DEADLINE for Juniors and Seniors for SPRING INTERNSHIP opportunities.  SENIOR BREAKOUT is this Friday, 2:30-3:30 in the Ted Brown Theatre. This meeting includes more graduation information, CAPSTONE application review and a handout with CLASS OF 2018 DATES for the entire year.

Seniors can order their cap and gowns at ORDERS are Due by 12/15/17.

TUTORING: Thursdays from 3:45-4:45 in Post Office room 237 (TIME ROOM). Students in math courses can receive daily math tutoring through the math department at 1950.

We are continuing to see great improvement in parents calling in excused absences. Thank you for supporting the importance of regular attendance. Did you know missing school just a couple days a month can put a student back and increase risk of failure? We believe 100% can meet standards if they are here!
