On Wednesday May 15th, please turn in all of your contact sheets and two of the prints for your portfolio, spotted and mounted, with an attached rubric.

Wednesday May 1st: Today we learn about Burning and Dodging, and review Spot Toning.
There are two blog posts you can finish. Or process film, or print and begin putting your portfolio together. More details on portfolio to come.
Monday April 29th: New assignment! Please shoot a roll of film on the subject of "Books". (If you have already done this assignment for Doris, and are not wanting to do it again, you can shoot 1/4 of your roll of film on Books, and the rest on Details.) Due Monday May 6th

Today, we are processing film, printing and getting things ready for STATE!

Entering State is not a requirement, but you will receive Extra Credit!

Today we are: printing, processing, and learning about filters! Please use filters when you print from now on!
New assignment: Landscape or Detail
Either take expansive photos of a landscape (forest, beach, mountains or cityscape)
or
Get really, really close to things, so they become just details and not recognizable as the things themselves. I do have 125 speed film for advanced students to use, if they choose.

New Assignment! Shoot two rolls. Both rolls due 4/8:
Roll#1: One Block Assignment: Confine yourself to a one block area. Shoot pictures in this area only. Do not shoot across the street. Just shoot in this one block area.
Roll#2: Portrait: Shoot a roll of film using nothing but people. Please take intentional, thoughtful photographs. Snapping pictures while walking down Pacific will not make me happy. Think about these photos.

Today in class: Due Freeze Motion and Blur assignment. Please process your film.
Also, you can work on blog post due this Wed the 13th, or the new blog post due next Wed the 20th.
New Shooting assignment for all levels:
Alone, In a Crowd: Shoot photos of a group of things or people. Take more than one shot of each grouping. Change your apertures so you can get all or most of the group in focus. Then change it so you just get one of the objects/people in focus. Think about which apertures give you the mos in focus and which give you the least amount.
This film is due on Monday March 18th
Wednesday March 6th:
Today in class, we will review shutter speeds, load film and cameras. There is also a new blog post, due on Wednesday March 13th. The darkroom is available, if you would like to print.
Shooting assignment for all levels:
Freeze Motion and Blur: Shoot a roll of film. Capture images of things that are moving. Show how to freeze motion and blur motion, using your knowledge of shutter speeds. Avoid very fasting moving objects (such as Amtrak trains) and far away objects (such as airplanes). This roll of film is due in class on Monday, March 11th.
Monday March 4th:
Today in class, we will learn (or review) about Aperture (depth of field), Shutter Speeds (stopping motion and blur), and camera parts and functions.
