This class will be designed around a semester long project in which you will assemble a lifestyle notebook. It will be filled with pictures, ideas and information relating to life choices and the corresponding financial obligations and requirements for those choices. Some examples are the college you plan to attend, the tuition and loan structure (FASFA, Interest calculations, loan repayment etc.) associated with it, the cost of living in the city, and the average salary levels of the job associated with the chosen major. I will also throw in some hypotheticals such as credit card expenditures and interest costs amongst other financial realities. The entire project will be structured around each of the common expenses associated with a personal budget. At the end of the class, we will use all of the calculated costs related to each section of your portfolio and I will give basic instruction on how to use excel to make a basic personal monthly budget.
