Hello MPG families!

A few announcements for you about tomorrow and the near future for our MPG and SOTA

  • Thank you for Fall conferences! I got a lot of good feedback about the texting/online signup system I used and plan to do so again in the Spring
  • Tomorrow in Mentor Group, we’ll have International Tea Party day to celebrate reaching the mid-term of the semester. Feel free to send your student to school with any particular tea you like (we have lots here so no worries) and/or some small baked good type of snack if you’d like. We will also be working on homework and I’m asking all kids to bring work to catchup/get help on.
  • If you ordered school photos for your student on picture day, I have them here and asked your kids to come pick them up this week, though most haven’t. Tomorrow 11/3 is the only picture re-take day. Pics look great by the way!
  • In the afternoon tomorrow, all students will go to Urban Grace Church at 1PM for a performance by the world renowned Oregon Shakespearean Festival performers. They’ll remain there for our second student Showcase of the year!
  • Mid-Term progress reports are being mailed home to you on Friday. You can always check up to the minute grades online, but we do mail home a mid-term report. Email me if you don’t have HAC grades online account access and I can get you set up!
  • No School on Friday, November 10 in observance of Veterans Day and also No School on Monday, November 13 for a teacher planning day.
  • On Friday, November 17, SOTA will have its annual Thanksgiving Feast! This Friday, our mentor group will be signing up for this potluck. I’ll be cooking a turkey and our mentor group is responsible for putting together a full meal. Each other mentor group in the building will do so as well and we’ll put everything together for a massive feast for about 150 people! Imagine the mess, it’s real. Talk with your student about a dish that will work for you and your family. We have no oven or refrigerator, though! Also, put a piece of masking tape or label any dishware you bring as we always have a pile of unclaimed dishes at the end of the day.
  • No School from 11/18 to 11/26 for Thanksgiving break! Upon returning from this break, expect a lot of finals, projects and performances for a very busy three weeks as we wind up the semester.
  • Registration for the January miniterm will happen via an online link after Thanksgviing break. More details on this as they come!
