11/2 - Hey Marine Ecologists - I forgot to tell you to meet at the South Pacific Aquarium in front of the Lagoon underwater viewing (down the stairs from the sting rays) tomorrow (Wednesday November 3rd). I will have signs up but please spread the word if you get this. We will be breaking up in to two groups and each group will have 10-15 behind the scenes with Stacy Misura who manages our coral propagation program.
Sorry no grades posted yet! Still trying to figure out how to use this grading system. I will be working with Ms. Povey next week to get things figured out. BUT if you look at the Assignments list on this site and you haven't turned something in yet, that will reflect on your grade when I get things posted.
WALRUS training session on Monday (10/13)!
Marine Species Poster project outline WAS DUE on Monday October 6th. I only have a few so far. If you didn't turn one in on Monday you need to get it to me tomorrow - October 8th.
I am still waiting for COURSE PROCEDURE SIGNED FORMS from some of you. I will contact your parents if I don't get these by next week.
Tomorrow, Wednesday October 8th, we will be doing a SQUID dissection. This wasn't what was originally planned so I apologize for the surprise, but maybe you like surprises?
If you are interested - There will be a Point Defiance Beach Clean Up from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday October 18th. Meet at the Boathouse. This is an optional community activity, not a class activity.
Wednesday October 1st - We will once again meet at the Boathouse Marina. We will be meeting a member of the Puget Sound conservation community so please be one time.
Monday September 29th - There will be a QUIZ covering plankton, marine taxonomy and ecosystems. All PowerPoint presentations are available on this site. You will be allowed to use your notes.
Monday September 15th - Meet at the Boathouse Marina. Please don't confuse this with the docks by the Ferry. The Boathouse is past Anthony's restaurant and has the store. We will be there for about 20 minutes to collect plankton. We will bring samples up to the same room where we had the Plankton Race. Microscopes will be set up there. We will spend the rest of class looking at samples recording observations. This class cannot be made up!
