"The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time."
Many of us struggle in large comprehensive high schools. Many of us are dealing with personal issues or family tragedies that have impacted our ability to succeed in high school. We understand.
Our team of professionals will work with you to create an "Individualized Learning Plan." This plan will enable you to work at your own pace in a blended learning model of computer-driven curriculum with support from our certificated teachers. All students must complete at least two three-hour sessions per week:
- 9am - 12pm
- 1pm - 4pm
- 5pm - 8pm (Monday - Thursday only)
At the Reengagement Center, we are dedicated to helping every student succeed every day.
Students who are between the ages of 16 and 21 and who are significantly credit deficient. Younger students can qualify if they are recommended to the program by school officials or an outside agency. Transportation is provided for students through Pierce Transit with daily bus passes.
Besides the blended learning opportunities available at the 1818 site, we offer two other programs. One option is the "Fresh Start" program at Tacoma Community College. Students who enter this program will be working toward their AA degree and high school diploma.
Another option for our older students who find themselves in a position where they cannot earn enough credits to graduate by age 21 will be served by Goodwill Industries through a GED (high school equivalency) program. Besides earning a GED, student will gain important job skills.
Students who need support in non-academic areas will be supported by our community partners, providing basic services including:
- Mental health counseling
- Anger management
- Career counseling
- support groups
- Job internships
