What is SPARX?
SPARX is a youth development program in all ten of Tacoma's middle schools as well at the Lincoln Center at Lincoln HS.

It is coordinated by Metro Parks with funding support from the City of Tacoma and facility support from Tacoma Public Schools.

2011/2012
Welcome Back Gray Pilots!

SPARX includes:
• School day support and mentoring
• Lunch time recreation
• After school mentoring, tutoring and enrichment programs.
• Field trips on school holidays and in-service days

With SPARX, middle schoolers are getting the added spark they need to get connected, stay in school, and achieve.

SPARX During Lunch
SPARX staff members are in schools all day and provide a variety of lunch-time Quick Burst activities that are fun, social and build rapport with the students.

SPARX after School 2:50-4:20pm
Kids' connection to fun and safe after-school activities and clubs

"Staying after school" is a good thing, thanks to SPARX. Kids will love all the great clubs and activities to choose from, and parents will love knowing their kids have somewhere safe and fun to go after school.

SPARX offers young people a safe place to hang out with their friends, choose from a variety of clubs and activities, or get help with schoolwork. The program offerings change every four weeks, so there's always cool stuff to do.

SPARX During In-Service Days & Holiday Breaks
A variety of field trips and activities are offered throughout the year and may include bowling, ice skating, movies, etc.

View field trip calendar, check with SPARX staff for fee and other details. Most trip fees range from $5-$20 per event. Two-week advance registration and permission slips required. Registrations must be coordinated with the SPARX Site Coordinator. Make checks payable to Metro Parks Tacoma (scholarships available).
