 Traffic Reminder

Please remember to observe and respect all traffic laws, especially within school zones. Police will be stepping up their presence in the area within the next few weeks. Remind your child to use the crosswalk instead of walking between busses. Even with your assistance this is very dangerous.

Get Out and Play
Check out the Events tab for family fun events.
My family enjoys attending these events from time to time.
Please note that these activities are not sponsored by the Tacoma School District.

I could really use your help in the mornings giving my student's their spelling tests. If you could spare 20 - 30 minutes from 9 - 9:45 I would really appreciate it. Even if it was one day out of the week. If you can't come in during that time I can always fit you you in later in the day. I'm also looking for someone to come in once a week to give my readers their end of the unit test. Between the times of 9:45 and 11:10. Call or write me a note. I will work around your schedule.
If you would like to volunteer in my classroom or during a field trip you will need to fill out a volunteer form and return it to the office. They will ask to see your ID.
Thank you for all you can do!

Accelerated Reader (AR)
All of my student's will have taken the Accelerated Reader test by December. Once this test is taken the program gives the teacher and parent suggestions as to what reading level your child would be most challenged at reading on their own. The reading goal for first grade is 6 points. Students can earn points by reading a book at their reading level and taking a quiz. The quizzes, depending on the reading level have between 5 to 10 comprehension questions. A student must pass the quiz with at least 4 out of 5 questions correct to earn 1/2 a point.
