Free Dress Day
We have one monthly free dress day only for those students in my class who:
- follow Edison's behavior expectations and remain on honor level 1 (green) for the entire month
- also follow the uniform expectation (They must be in compliance with the school policy according to the handbook that was sent home to all families)
For questions regarding the uniform policy, please refer to the handbook that went home with your student at the beginning of school.
It is not too early to think about what you might want to do past elementary school. Many of our students are already thinking about goals they want to pursue in the future. Some of these include going to college.
Every Friday during the school year, students are encouraged to wear a top with a name logo of the school or college they plan to attend in the future. This is not "free dress". Uniform bottoms are still an expectation for all students.

There are three easy ways to find it:
- You can just click on the link right here to visit it.
- You can go to the homework tab and follow the link there in the math homework paragraph.
- You may also go to the links tab to find it and get started. You need to have the username and password I gave you in class to have access to it. There are specific assignments listed on there for you to complete every week.
Scholastic now gives us a new feature to order books online, view recommended books for your child, and have access to thousands of other books than the ones you see on the monthly flyer. To place a book club order, follow this link Scholastic book clubs. You will need the online activation code I gave you in class.
Inclement Weather Related or Emergency School Closures
Please keep informed of all weather related emergencies that affect our school schedule...
►Option 1: The Tacoma School District encourages all parents to have their phone numbers updated with us. In the case of an emergency, you will receive a schoool messenger phone notification message explaining any changes in the school day. If you have not already done so, please take this time to notify your children's school office staff of your current phone number. This will enable you to receive these and other important notifications in a timely basis and avoid any misunderstandings and unnecessary confusion.
►Option 2: Additionally, you may click on the Tacoma School District's school closures link for more information alerts.
►Option 3: Tune in to your local news station on both TV and radio (KOMO 4, KING 5, KIRO 7, KCPQ 13 and KOMO 4 radio AM 1000) to get the latest information on school closures as well.
►Option 4: you can also subscribe to the Puget Sound's Educational Service District (PSESD) communication system for the information. If you want to get inclement weather related notifications sent to your mobile phone (text or email) or personal computer, you will need to enter the mobile's phone number and/or the email address where you want the notification to be sent.
Reporting school districts will be displayed next to a red triangle. Messages like these come in handy on a mobile phone when a land line phone, radio, TV, or computer have been disabled due to power outages.
