NOVEMBER 24, 2013
We are looking forward to our Thanksgiving feast on Tuesday, November 26th. Our menu will be turkey, stuffing, cornbread, fruit salad, apple juice and apple or pumpkin pie. If your child does not like or can not eat the food on the menu they may bring a lunch from home or buy school lunch and join the other first graders.
On November 26th students may wear Washington Husky, Washington State Cougar or uniform in honor Apple Cup.
Conferences are December 4th, 5th, and 6th. Students will be dismissed at 12:15 on those days. Confirmations will go home on December 2nd. Please reschedule as soon as possible if you are unable to attend. Students are expected to attend the conference with their parent.
New this year, anyone who volunteers in the classroom must fill out the volunteer information packet every year rather than every two years. Please check with the office if your volunteer information is up to date. Thank you!
Optional dress days will will be the last Friday of each month. They are on the calendar.
In Science we are studying the life cycle of plants. The students have planted seeds and we are observing the growth of the plants. We are also doing many pumpkin activities.
The cost of lunch and milk has increased. Lunch is $2.75 and milk will be 55cents.
On the documents page you will find the specialist schedule for this year. The first grade concert is scheduled for Thursday, January 16, 2014. The students will be performing at 7:00PM.
Students will be expected to wear uniform socks and tights. Socks and tights are to be solid white or navy blue.
Please put your child's name on their lunch box, sweaters, and jackets. It makes it much easier to find your child's belongings. Because of the uniform policy everything looks the same and many items never make it home.
We are still collecting "Box Tops for education" so send them to school as you collect them. It is helpful if you can cut them neatly for the box top collectors.
The student day is from 8:55AM to 3:30PM. Parents must check in the office to pick students up early. Students will be called to the office and excused from there.
If you have any questions or concerns as the year progresses please contact me at 571-5500. The best times to call are 7:45 to 8:45 AM and 3:35-3:50 PM.
