Welcome to Mr. McPartlon's Website

About Me:

I originally grew up in Tacoma, having lived here until the 6th grade (Franklin and Jefferson Elementaries). I moved to Puyallup and graduated from Puyallup HS. I attended GRCC (earning my AA degree), transferred to WWU (earning my Bachelor's degree), and finally City University (earning my Master's degree). I also earned my National Boards in Teaching certification (Early Adolescence Math). I recently taught at Gray MS, in tacoma, for the past 20 years. Besides teaching I have coached Basketball, Baseball, Flag Football, and Volleyball. I am currently Lincoln high school's Boys and Girls golf coach. Teaching at Baker MS will be a new and exciting experience for me. I look forward to working with all students here at Baker.

Grading Policy:

Grades are available online through the district website and are updated weekly. A blank box means the work is missing. Missing work goes into the gradebook as a zero until they are made up. When a missing assignment is turned in, the zero is replaced with a score. Students will not earn full credit on work that is late. Please make up missing work as soon as possible to get the most accurate grades.

Grades are made up of two parts:

  • Homework / Classwork (10% of grade)
  • Quizzes / Tests (90% of grade)

Students can re-take quizzes over again before school (with prior arrangements), during lunch (with a hall pass from me), and after school. In order for students to re-take any quiz, they must first show me that they studied the material at home (practice work, etc).

Assignments are given every day. Sometimes it is called classwork (work is done in class either by the individual student or in small groups or pairs) and not to be done at home. Sometimes the assignment requires work to be done outside the classroom, then it becomes homework. Homework is given about 2 to 3 times a week. When work is sent home, the expectation is that students complete it prior to returning to class the following day.
